French & Day is a modern British delicatessen in the heart of Ware, Hertfordshire, founded in 2020 during the thick of the pandemic. Born from a shared love of good food, good wine, and a sense of adventure, we set out to create the kind of shop we wanted to visit ourselves – one that celebrates flavour, quality, curiosity, and brilliant producers.

We specialise in British cheese and charcuterie, local beers, premium British spirits, and wines from small, independent producers – bottles you won’t find on the supermarket shelf. Alongside that, you’ll find a rotating line-up of seasonal treats, kitchen staples, and delicious odds and ends from both close to home and further afield.

We’re proud to champion British and local wherever we can, working closely with producers who care about what they make and how they make it. Sustainability is a key part of our approach – from how we source our products to how we run our shop day-to-day.

French & Day isn’t just about shopping – it’s about staying a while. We offer wines by the glass, beer on draught, locally roasted coffee and a small but mighty menu of cheese and meat by the portion to enjoy in-house.
